After Ada and her brother, Jamie, find out that their Mam died Jamie is upset and Ada is unsure of her feelings. Ada and Jamie are being cared for by Susan Smith, their guardian. Lady Thorton gives them a small barn to live in after Susan's house gets bombed. Then Lady Throton announces she's moving in with them! Can things get any crazier? Well, they can because one day Mr. Thorton brings home a German girl named Ruth! They are fighting against the Germans! Is Ruth secretly a spy? Or is she just a normal kid? I recommend this book to 4th graders and up.
This book is SO GOOD!!!! It is amazing. I really recommend it to anyone who has not read it.
